Dear Families,

There is something that often goes unspoken: hair care is never just about hair. It is about confidence. It is about connection. It is about how a child sees themselves and how a caregiver shows up for them in everyday moments.

Curls With Care was created with one belief at its core: every family deserves access to the knowledge, support, and care needed to nurture both hair and well-being.

We serve children and families of all backgrounds and family structures. Whether you feel confident, uncertain, overwhelmed, or simply in need of support, you are welcome here.

While virtual education is a valuable resource, we recognize that it does not meet the needs of every caregiver, including those with limitations that make virtual participation challenging. Some families need something more personal, more hands-on, more human. That is where we come in.

We recognize that hair care is deeply connected to self-esteem and overall well-being. Many caregivers want to support their children but may feel overwhelmed, uncertain, or under-resourced. Our program creates a supportive space where both the caregiver and child feel seen, capable, and empowered.

From there, we work directly with each family to co-create an individualized hair care plan tailored to the specific needs of their child. These plans focus on building realistic, sustainable routines that reduce stress and increase confidence at home. We also provide follow-up support to ensure families feel guided and supported as they continue their hair care journey.

At Curls With Care, we believe every child deserves to feel seen, cared for, and confident, and every caregiver deserves to feel capable and supported in that journey.

A Letter From the Founder

Dear Community,

I was born and raised in Oakland, California, and have been a licensed cosmetologist for over 25 years. As a young girl, I understood that hair care was important and that how you care for your hair plays a role in how you show up each day. Over time, I also came to realize that not every family has the same level of access to knowledge, resources, or exposure when it comes to hair care. That awareness is something I’ve carried with me, and it continues to shape the work I do today.

My professional journey began outside of the beauty industry, starting with early work experiences and time spent in the corporate sector. Eventually, I transitioned into cosmetology and built a career centered on both hair care and education. As a salon owner and a mother, I’ve seen firsthand how managing daily hair care routines can be challenging for families, especially when guidance, time, or resources are limited.

Through years of working directly with families, I began to see a consistent need beyond the salon chair. Many parents want to care for their children’s hair properly but need the proper education, confidence, and support to do so. I’ve seen how hair care is closely tied to how children feel about themselves, and how those experiences can influence both a child’s confidence and a parent’s sense of ease and reassurance in their daily routine.

That understanding led me to create Curls With Care in 2025. A hands-on hair care and self-care program that serves children and families of all backgrounds and family structures. My work is rooted in the belief that when families are given the tools, education, and support they need, they are better equipped to care for themselves and each other.

Through this work, I am committed to supporting the whole family: helping children build confidence and helping parents feel empowered, not overwhelmed. We currently serve the greater Bay Area, with a long-term vision to expand across California.
